About the artist....
"My artwork enables me to combine my love of drawing and painting, with my need to stitch and my passion for textiles".
Following a creative career in the UK, combining 25 years teaching across a range of art and design subjects, in further and higher education, alongside employment in the fashion industry as a designer and pattern maker, as well as running my own fashion design business; I migrated to NZ in 2010, travelled extensively and settled in the beautiful Coromandel. Initially I began working as a designer and pattern maker for one of NZ's most renowned fashion labels, before taking up a lecturing position on a Polytechnic fashion degree; teaching across a number of disciplines, including digital design for fashion and textiles.
Drawing has formed the basis of all my work, from designing garments for clients and collections for fashion labels, to sketching for pleasure. Since living in New Zealand, alongside developing my work as a visual artist, I have also enjoyed creating wearable art pieces. In 2012, I won the Shell Sustainable Award at WoW (the World of Wearable Arts Show) in Wellington, followed by an award at Cult Couture, Auckland, in 2013, and the Overall Supreme Designer Award at the Thames/Coromandel, Pohutakawa Wearable Arts Festival in both 2014 and 2015.
